Last Day of Getting Grilled!

After 28 months of being braced, today is the day I get them all off! Am I excited? A little bit…stressed -quite a bit!

To be honest, I’ve wanted braces for such a long time that when I finally got them I was thrilled – and the thought of getting them off never really crossed my mind – until a couple of days ago when I realised it’s time.

For me it was always about “having braces” rather than “getting a perfect smile” so I’m kind of sad to take them off and would honestly keep them longer if I could. But it would be nice to eat bread without getting it stuck everywhere…and not having to brush and floss 1800000 times a day or gargle ‘constantly’ when drinking water (esp at Din Tai Fung..those veg dumplings are delicious but those green things are nasty for people with braces!) So in less than two hours I’ll be sitting in Dr. Tan’s chair and on my way to smoother smiles.

Fingers crossed it goes well and there is no pain. I hate pain. 😦

And since I’m trying to not think of the discomfort involved, I’m going to think of the gorgeous view from Tan Boon Liat Building where we went furniture browsing the other day. If you are looking for good wood and refuse to buy IKEA, this place is worth a look. It has some lovely shops like Mountain Teak, The Shophouse, Pomelo, Red House, Journey East and Fairprice Antiques.

Some were expensive, most were decent. We will definitely be going back! So glad I’m discovering these places…and to think when we first moved here my only shop to get wooden furniture was Barang Barang! Enjoy the view!
